God’s judgement is coming. . . again
The Flood of Noah's day is clearly visible in the earth today, and happened about 4,400 ys ago. God brought judgement on a wicked and violent world, with a global flood. He could see that humanity had really deteriorated, and evil was the order of the day, so He decided to start virtually all over again. See how Moses records this in the book of Genesis.
“The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord”
But God had a rescue plan for those that followed Him
Noah and his family were safely on board the Ark they had built at God's instruction; God himself closed the door of the Ark, and then the floods came. The rest of the population were judged, and they perished. Interestingly there was one man, called Enoch, and he was also rescued from the flood. But instead of being saved 'through the flood' on a boat like Noah and his family, he was 'extracted' in advance - saved 'from the time of the flood '. Read on, and get ready for the supernatural! Later on, Sodom and Gomorrah, 2 terrible cities, were destroyed by God. You may have heard the story of how these 2 ghastly cities were completely destroyed by fire from heaven! Again God had an escape plan for those that followed Him. He sent 2 Angels, and rescued a man called Lot with his family. They got them out just in time, saved 'from the time of the judgement and destruction'. These are 2 'patterns' from history, that point to the judgement that is coming, and the special escape plan which God will soon activate!
You may have heard about the final book in the Bible - Revelation. Some of it makes for shocking reading; many people will die in the natural and supernatural events - wars, famines, earthquakes, plagues, and asteroid strikes. You really won't want to be on the earth to witness this time of 'Great Tribulation" - the time God also calls 'Jacob's Trouble'. The people of Israel rejected their promised Messiah when he came 2,000 years ago. Sadly many are still waiting, in error. It will take desperate measures for them to realise their error. And those people alive today who know of God, and of The Bible, but who have chosen to ignore its Gospel message - the Free Gift of Jesus' death in their place - all these people will have to go through this terrible time of trial and testing, of judgement, destruction and death. Those who know Jesus - His followers - will be 'extracted' before this all starts! See how God has established the world, and her descendants from Adam, and set future times in motion; from Paul's words
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.”
And further on he talks about the responsibility that we have, to repent (turn away from evil) and warns us that judgement is coming.
“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone – an image made by human design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
See if you recognise any of these symptoms of our times right now, from the words of Paul some 2,000 years ago.
“But mark this: there will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”
Does that sound like our society today, even in the so-called Christian Western world? The judgement is foretold. It is sure; it is coming soon. But Jesus offers us an alternative, even while we are still here in this troubled world. See His promise of heavenly benefits while here on earth, and assurance for the future.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming.”
